Regulatory Compliance School 2017

Join us in Baton Rouge on February 7th & 8th for our two-day Credit Union Regulatory Compliance School being taught by Deborah Crawford & Susan Costonis. This school will cover many of the federal rules regarding lending and share regulations. We will cover some fundamentals, updated and regulatory changes.

Day One: Lending Module

The past few years have brought significant changes to lending compliance at credit unions. The lending module will include the “alphabet soup” of lending compliance from Regulation B (ECOA) through Z (Truth in Lending) and include many examination hot spots for 2017. We will review the existing regulations for 2017 and preview some of the 2018 changes including the complicated new HMDA rules.

What you will learn:

  • Application Basics
    • Requirements for processing a loan request?
    • The Reg B requirements for appraisal copies, application forms, monitoring information and record retention?
    • Regs triggered when the member is a consumer, service member, or business applicant.
    • Regs required based on collateral.
    • What are the adverse action notice requirements?
    • How should applications be evaluated?
  • Fair Lending Considerations & NCUA Guidance
  • FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) requirements
  • Reg Z (Truth in Lending) Basics for open-end and closed-end credit and special rules for mortgage loans
  • HMDA Overview & Preview of new rules for 2018

Day Two: Share Module

It’s a fast paced regulatory environment with many changes coming quickly. This program will review many of the share account federal issues and review examination hot spots for 2017 and beyond.

What you will learn:

  • New Prepaid Card Rules for Regulation E
  • Product restrictions for Regulation D
  • Regulation CC Holds and Disclosures
  • TISA review and hot spots for the examiners
  • New Customer Due Diligence Rules
  • Proposed/New CTR Changes
  • Overdraft privilege do’s and don’ts
  • Look at fines and penalties from sanctions
  • Third party vendor management

Educational Investment 

Your educational investment for this two day workshop is $425 per student.

If you can only join us for one day of the program, each day can be purchased individually for $250 per student.

In the event that minimum required registrations are not met at least 8 business days in advance of program, event may be postponed or canceled at the discretion of LCUL. All registrants would be notified promptly.
