Dues Subsidized: NCUF Simulations Training

LCUL is pleased to join Ascension Credit Union and Maple FCU in presenting a staff training day that everyone can benefit from!  Sometimes we have to take a short walk in our member’s shoes to remember why credit unions exist, reflect on our purpose & strategize how we can best assist our members.

We invite you to join us on Monday, January 15th from 9am – 4pm (Martin Luther King Day) and take this opportunity to engage your staff in 2 interactive eye-opening, heart- wrenching, mind- expanding exercises facilitated by Mark Lynch of the National Credit Union Foundation.

Our day begins in a simulated reality of many of our members who live paycheck to paycheck:

The Life Simulation experience is designed to help credit union employees, volunteers and leadership begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. At the conclusion of the exercise we will debrief as a group and participants will be more aware to the daily realities of many American families.

In our afternoon, we will take a glimpse into our own futures as we prepare for eventual retirement:

The award-winning Retirement Fair is designed to have people think more carefully about the type of lifestyle they would like to pursue in retirement and then link it to their financial plan.  During the fair, participants visit several lifestyle booths where they ponder a series of questions and then make an assessment about how much they will most likely spend on that aspect of their retirement lifestyle.

But wait…there’s more!  For those interested we will offer an optional pre-workshop session on Sunday afternoon January 14th from 1-4 pm designed for Management Team discussion on the following topics:

  • How to best implement or improve your Financial Counseling & Member Education Programs.  Do you have certified counselors on staff but are not utilizing it to the fullest? Are you looking to expand programs to educate your members?  Let’s discuss best practices, strategies and ideas.
  • How to develop a sub-prime auto lending program to best serve your members with low credit scores and do it in a way that manages risk. Let’s share any ideas for growth!
