Share Account Basics

Account Titling, Ownership and Signatories

When you open and title accounts, you affect not only rights at death but also the insurance coverage of your account. Some of the big errors are occurring on our signature card contracts because we do not understand when to use authorized signers and PODs. Debbie Crawford of GetTechical Inc, will help you understand the legal ownership and proper titling of accounts that will prevent loss to your credit union and ensure that your account holder gets what he or she wants upon their death.

Program Highlights

  • How to set up and title individual, joint and POD accounts
  • Why you have to match both the identification and the IRS record
  • Completing the W-9 and W-8BEN
  • Business account titling and TINs
  • Minors and UTMA
  • Account cards, disclosures and the importance of accuracy
  • What happens when owners don’t sign on personal accounts
  • Do’s and Don’ts on account cards

  • And much, much more
